Instead of relying on employers why not get your heads together and create your own business. I’m sure between us we have the skill set. I would be interested to talk to you as I have a range of ideas that just need people power. You have to give to get I always say.

Great idea. Incidentally if you are an “early retiree” looking for some worthwhile activity check out your local U3A group - they are always looking for volunteers and in particular volunteer tutors who can provide interesting presentations on a whole range of subjects - art, history, geography, travel, anthropology, science and the humanities- the list of needs for mentally challenging presentations is endless.

Great idea. Many early retirees find they have little to fill their time and would like to volunteer but don’t know where to start. There is so much knowledge and expertise just going to waste. Imaginine if just a fraction was harnessed!

Unfortunately, I’m looking for information about Toowong State School - primary level. When I was there the school classes went from grade one to grade eight.

I arrived in Melbourne in 1966 to attend Melboune University:so we must have crossed paths somewhere in NSW!

Hey David,

I’m from Melbourne originally too and came up to Queensland in 1966, I went to Toowong High, not sure if that is any help…. I had to walk barefoot in the snow from Kenmore … bugger!!! LOL

I was at Toowong State School from 1957 to 1960. I am looking for contacts in that era.

I do recall a few names but these are slipping past as the years roll on. I would like to pass on information to my family about these years as they are all Melbourne centric and have little or no understanding of the struggles we faced in Queensland as we walked barefoot through the snow each morning to Toowong State School from Auchenflower (we saved a penny each way by not taking the tram). Please can you assist?
